It is Mother’s Day today in Indonesia. Selamat Hari Ibu buat Mamaku di Surabaya. I remember this “petite chanson” from my childhood about mother’s love:
Kasih Ibu kepada beta tak terhingga sepanjang masa
Hanya memberi tak harap kembali
Bagai sang surya menyinari dunia
(Mother’s love to me is unlimited for eternal time
Only to give never expect the return
Like the sun shines on earth)
Happy Mother’s Day!!
Oh it is officially winter today and the shorter day of the year, 21 Dec! Also, Christmas is coming soon. People are running to the shopping malls to get presents for their love ones. The weather is just getting colder. We still have not found a star or an angel to be put on top of our Xmas tree! I myself have no idea what to give to my JB. I think this year my Xmas is gonna be different. I remember I spent my Xmas holiday alone in a friend’s appartment. But this year, I will spend Christmas with JB and his family.
I have been listening to Christmas tunes in a pop-opera way from Il Divo and a jazzy Christmas music of Diana Krall. Listening to Il Divo gives me shrivers down my spine! My favorites are O Holy Night and The Lord’s Prayer, I wonder if I would hear this majestic song in my very special day next year.

Also, I have been listening to some beautiful music from the latest album of Enya, Amarantine. Such beautiful music! Close your eyes and listen to this kind of music, makes you feel like flying
.
Last Sunday, JB, his sis and I went to Bercy to watch the new Harry Potter. It was full! I saw many adults watch this film, not kids or teens! Actually, I am not a big fan of Harry Potter. I watched the first Harry Potter when I was in Chambery, and that was because I had to accompany the kids to the cinema. I never read the books! Well, this week, JB and I watched all the Harry Potter DVDs. It was kind of astonishing to see the actors are grown ups now, no more kids as they were at the first movie. It is interesting to see English movie, since I would like to hear the British English accent or the pronunciation. JB told me that Harry Potter is about the same as Goosebumps! That, I agree. Well, I prefer to watch Harry Potter instead of Lord of the Rings.
Gaïa le chat n’est plus là!
Elle est morte cette nuit, vendredi, 9 décembre vers 01h23, à l’age de 8 ans. C’est triste. She was suffered from Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) which is equal to HIV. These past few weeks her condition was getting worse and worse. She lost her energy. She could not walk normally, she would stop walking every one or two meters, she could not eat or drink, she could not do her needs. Yesterday, she could not even get up. Last night, seemed like she “called” us to be by her side as she took her long last breath. It was so sad! Gaïa was not my cat, she was JB’s. But since I moved here, we got along together well. I was quite surprise when she came to me for the first time, I was in bed and she came just by my side (near my head) and we slept…I myself did not know that I was kind of attached to this cat. It is so strange not to have Gaïa in this appartement. Something is missing, and it is the maine coon…Gaïa…
Unfortunately, we don’t have the current photos of her as the computer is broken and the hard disk is kept at JB’s parents’. But here is an old photo of Gaïa

A dieu Gaïa
Well, the computer is dead! Fortunately, the hard disk is saved, so all our photos and my homeworks are saved but for now we use this old laptop. 2 weeks more before Christmas holidays!!! Yes!! But it is gonna be some busy weeks before Christmas. Hmm, let me see…need to send Xmas cards, find some presents (still have no idea!), get a Christmas tree this weekend…and also I have to get prepared for the exams in which will be on the first week of January!! Feels like there is no enough time to do all these things…
Last Saturday was the first day that snow fell in Paris! And it snowed hard!! It is quite rare since usually it starts snowing in January or February, in Paris!! We walked under the snow in Saturday morning, so cold but fun!! We were around the Rue Rivoli, Louvre, Champs Elysées, and Parc de Bercy
Saturday night, we went window shopping in Galeries Lafayette and Printemps
Some pictures that we took on Saturday
Nov 13, JB and I went out to Jardin Luxembourg, this is the place where we met for the first time. I like a lot this park, in the summer time where the Parisians and tourists like to get some time to relax (sitting there and read a book or just watching the people) and also get some tan, fall season where the autumn leaves are on the ground
It is getting cold here, with only 5 degree Celcius in the afternoon. My head is freezing, ears are like chips, and nose is running. Favorite time is to have some hot chocolate or just be at home and cuddle up under the big blanket!
Nov 19, we went to Salon du mariage (Marriage Exhibition) only to get some ideas, to see what’s new, to check the prices and to joke around!!
Some photos from Nov 13 and 19
I decided to write about my studies in this blog. Perhaps it is one of the way to review my lessons and I will talk about my homeworks too. I admit that I have difficulties, especially in literature!
This year I started attending Université Sorbonne Nouvelle. I take Langue, Littérature, Civilisation Etranger - Anglais (Foreign Language, Literature, Civilisation - majoring in English). I also take Option Français Langue Etranger (minor in French as Second Language).
My courses for this year are:
Literature for the first semester, I learn how to analyse and make commentary on text. Some excerpts from English and American writings are provided. Plus, starting next week, the class will begin to discuss 1984 by George Orwell. Honestly, I have problems in this class!!
I have heard about these guys before, I like the way they sing, with their beautiful voices. I just never thought that it would sound nice to sing popular songs in such voices. But at that time, I didn’t know their names, until Lia mentioned the name of this group at friendster. So, thanks Lia!
I visited the website of IL DIVO to get more information about this group. I plan to get their Christmas CD. It sounds magnifique. There are songs that I love so much since I was small, they are The Lord’s Prayer and O Holy Night. I checked out that they will hold a concert in Paris on May 21!!!! Wow!!! I wish I would be able to attend, it would be a great birthday present. Anyone want to treat me for IL DIVO concert for 60 Euro??
Lia, would you really go to their concert in Australia? yea, it is too bad that they won’t have one in Malaysia..I guess both of us need to save some money to see these young guys. Hmm, it reminds me how we were when we were younger…
The Lord’s Prayer is a wonderful and solemn Christian Song. It is based on Matthew 6. I had played this beatiful piece (in piano) in a friend’s marriage ceremony at church some years ago. Basically, I love to listen to traditional christian hymns and when I am alone in this apartment I would like sing along while listening to the music at digital hymns.
